Our mission is to enhance the experience of youth soccer in our community. The purpose of our program is to give competitive players an environment to reach their potential as both soccer players and individuals. We strongly believe that every youth program should achieve the same goals - to develop youth players in a fun, safe and educational environment. This program caters to competitive youth players from the ages of 8 to 19. The main focus of our program is not on winning, but on the development of the total soccer player within the framework of a team. To reach this goal we have assembled a highly qualified professional coaching staff that works within a structured age appropriate curriculum. Our desire is to give players the foundation and continued opportunity to reach the highest levels. We are committed to meeting this goal and expect the same commitment from those that participate in our program.
The GGWSL is a USSF and CSAN affiliated league run by volunteers. Its current membership includes forty-eight teams, in eight divisions. Teams are located throughout the San Francisco area, including Oakland, Marin and South San Francisco. The GGWSL plays two seasons: a fall season (which runs September to December) and a spring season (which runs March to June). Each season consists of ten games.
History:
The first recognizable shape of the GGWSL seemed to occur in 1977. A handful of people (names to be added later) were responsible for creating a league of about 6 teams (SF Scots, Celtic Ramblers, etc. - list to be completed later). A huge debt is owed to this early pioneers.
In the early going there was much resistent to women's soccer from CSAN and San Francisco Park and Recreation. Eventually the league was able to get started when a few women convinced some of the local men's teams to sponsor women's teams. This enable the teams to obtain some neccessary permits and fields. Once it got its start it just continued to grow. Eventually, the GGWSL joined CSAN.
The Redwood Junior Soccer League is managed by a Board of Directors (Club Representatives) who cast a single vote for each Team in the Club:

About the League
The Redwood Junior Soccer League provides organization and structure for Class 3 competitive youth soccer play on the San Francisco Peninsula (an area from Burlingame to Palo Alto to Half Moon Bay). We are in District 2 of the Northern California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA-N). We are also the Registration League for competitive youth soccer teams in our geographic area that want to affiliate with CYSA-N. We are known as the Redwood League, RedwoodSoccer and RWL.
Class 1 teams from Clubs affiliated with the Redwood League may be released to play in the Abronzino League. The Abronziono League is the District 2-wide, Class 1 Playing League.
Class 3 competitive soccer is also known as traveling team or classic soccer. The coaches are often paid and the teams select their players via tryouts. Players will often stay on the same team from season to season. Competition is provided for teams from Under 9 (U09) through Under 19 (U19) in single year increments for both boys and girls.
Players wishing to play in the Redwood League must first join a team. Teams belong to a member club. The clubs assist in providing coaches, referees and fields. The Redwood League encompasses clubs from Burlingame to Palo Alto to Half Moon Bay.
The Fall season is the principal soccer season. It starts in early September and runs through early December. Many teams also play in the Spring season. The Spring season starts in Late March and runs through early June. Spring season is less formal and is considered a developmental period. Many teams will practice year round and participate in tournaments.
The rest of District 2 (south of Palo Alto to Salinas and Monterey) also has a Class 3 playing league called the Delgado League. District 1 which encompasses the San Francisco area has a similar Class 3 playing league called the Alvarez League. Sometimes teams from these geographic areas will petition to play in the Redwood League.
Top performing teams can petition and be promoted to Class 1 or premier soccer. Class 1 teams in our geographical area belong to Redwood League and are released to play in the Abronzino League, the District 2 wide Class 1 Playing League.
For further information contact the Club in your community or one of the Redwood League Officers.
League Officers
Day to day operations of Redwood Junior Soccer League is managed by the Executive Committee (Elected annually by the Board of Directors). The current Executive Committee is:
The Vikings Soccer Club has always been on the leading edge of soccer innovation in America. The San Francisco Vikings began in the Fall of 1922. At that time, the club consisted of only senior players. They were charter members of all the state and local soccer organizations (California Soccer Association North, San Francisco Soccer Football League (senior group) and the California Youth Soccer Association. Today, the Vikings Soccer Club is like very few in the nation, because it provides soccer at all levels. Beginning at Under 6 and continuing through Youth, Senior and Stumblers (those old guys can really play), boys and girls, men and women alike can belong to a soccer club steeped in history, but always progressive.

The Women's Premier Soccer League is an independent national league whose main focus is on the development of highly competitive amateur women's soccer teams.
The WPSL also makes every effort to bring quality soccer to all levels of the community and to promote the stature of female athletes as role models for our youth.
The WPSL was formed in 1998. It is sanctioned by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) as an affiliate of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), the ruling body of soccer in the United States and FIFA the world's ruling body for soccer.
The WPSL is unique in that it is an open league that is run by the teams. Each team gets one vote and decides all issues for the entire league. Anyone can access information about our league such as: current teams, rosters, statistics, schedules, results, constitution and by-laws, forms, meeting minutes and the latest league news at our website.
Our league is flexible with new teams in respect to minimum standards, but we expect that every team aspire to achieve all WPSL standards. Standards that we stress include: a good playing surface, water for players provided by the home team, ice and a trainer at all games, professional conduct and adherence to the league constitution and by-laws.
The WPSL season runs from May 1st to August 1st. There is a league championship tournament held the last weekend of July. The location of which is determined each year. Teams can expect to play 14-18 games during the season.
